Biografia
Dilan Perisan is a multi-disciplinary Kurdish artist based in Bologna. She was born in 1991 in Ankara, Turkey. She graduated from the Department of Architecture at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2016.
She has collaborated on various projects in different roles within architectural and interior design offices in Ankara, Saronno, and Rome.Later, she pursued studies in Visual Arts and Painting at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti(NABA) in Milan, completing her degree in 2022. Her thesis, “Sultan’s Legend: Objects WithoutShadows,” explores the survival of her family members during the Maraş Massacre.
In her research, she examined how traumatic memories could be considered votive objects, capable of carrying miraculous or healing properties.
Her artistic practice predominantly involves transforming discarded objects and everyday detritus, materials she considers part of her personal history. She is particularly interested in new materialisms and aims to challenge dominant narratives surrounding identity, colorism, gender, and class by relating them to the inanimate world in the Anthropocene. She draws parallels between micro and macro spaces, such as the home and the Earth, believing that art has the
power to shift perspectives, heal, and bring transformation. She has exhibited her work in Milan, Bologna, London, Istanbul, and South Korea, including at P420 and Otto Zoo galleries. In 2024, she was selected for Mamut Art Project in Istanbul. Dilan Perisan is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti di
Bologna. She also participated in an exchange program at Chelsea College of Arts.
